Effective October 31, 2026 (updated the same day: optional sign-in and world high scores)

Mergy is a game made by De-Evolution Studios ("we", "us"), based in Brooklyn, New York. This policy explains what information the game uses, why, and the choices you have. If you have a question, email contact@deevolutionstudios.com.

The short version

  • You don't need an account to play. Signing in is optional and only puts a display name and your merge total on the world high score board.
  • Your merges, board and settings are saved on your own device. If you sign in, your display name, chosen picture and merge totals are also kept on our high score server.
  • The app shows a banner ad at the bottom of the screen, provided by Google AdMob, which collects some device information to show and measure ads, as described below. You can remove ads with a one-time purchase.
  • Purchases are handled by Google Play (or the App Store). We never see your payment details.
  • We don't use analytics or crash reporting.

Information saved on your device

The game stores your progress and settings on your device so you can pick up where you left off: your merge count, the board in play, the board look and profile picture you chose, the packs you own, sound volumes and similar game data. This stays on your device. Deleting the game deletes it. If you use your device's own backup (such as Google backup or iCloud), that backup is handled by Google or Apple under their privacy policies.

High scores and signing in (optional)

You can sign in with your Google account (or, on iPhone and iPad, with Sign in with Apple) to put your name on Mergy's world high score board. This uses the De-Evolution Studios sign-in, the same account as our other games that offer it. If you sign in:

  • Google or Apple tells us your account's email address and a unique account ID. With Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your email; Apple then gives us a private relay address. We use these only to keep you signed in and to know which board entry is yours. We don't email you and don't show your email to anyone.
  • You choose a display name (3 to 16 letters, numbers or _). It is shown publicly on the board, with the profile picture you picked in the game (one of the game's items), your merge total for all time and for this week, and whether you are a Supporter.
  • While you're signed in, the game sends your merge total to our high score server every so often as you play.

Sign-in and the high score board are run for us by Supabase, which stores this information on our behalf. Signing in with Google or Apple is also covered by their privacy policies. If you don't sign in, none of this is collected.

Ads (Google AdMob)

The phone app shows a banner ad along the bottom of the screen. To deliver it, we use Google AdMob. Google may collect and process:

  • device identifiers, such as your device's advertising ID (on iPhone, only if you allow tracking);
  • your IP address and approximate location derived from it;
  • device and app information, such as device model, operating system and app version;
  • information about the ads you see and interact with.

Google uses this information to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, prevent fraud, and, where you allow it, show ads that are more relevant to you. Google's use of this information is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Your choices:

  • On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your device's Google settings.
  • On iPhone and iPad, the game asks whether you allow tracking before your advertising identifier is used. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
  • In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the game asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown, using Google's consent tool. You can say no and still play; ads will just be less personalized.
  • Remove ads: a one-time purchase (also included in the Supporter Pack) turns the banner off for good, and the ad service isn't used after that.

The website version of Mergy shows no ads.

Purchases

Mergy offers optional one-time purchases: Remove ads and board packs, which change how the game looks. These are processed entirely by Google (Google Play) or Apple (App Store). The game receives confirmation that a purchase was made so it can unlock it, and asks the store which purchases your account owns when you tap Restore purchases, but we never receive your name, card number or other payment details. We don't use a separate purchase service.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your personal information.
  • We don't run analytics, crash reporting or tracking of our own. Unless you sign in for the high scores, the game sends nothing to us.
  • We don't ask for or collect your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or precise location.

Deleting your data

If you never signed in, we hold no data about you. Your game progress lives only on your device: uninstalling Mergy deletes it.

If you signed in for the high scores, open Settings > High scores in the game and tap Delete my high-score data: your display name, picture and totals are removed from the board and our server straight away. To delete your De-Evolution Studios sign-in account itself (it may also be used by our other games), email contact@deevolutionstudios.com from the address you signed in with, with the subject "Mergy: delete my account". We delete it and confirm by email within 30 days.

Data held by Google for ads can be reset or deleted in your device's Google or Apple settings, as described above. Google Play and the App Store keep their own record of your purchases under their own privacy policies. If you have any question, email contact@deevolutionstudios.com.

Children

Mergy is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the game, contact us and we will help remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, or to object to certain uses of it. If you signed in for the high scores, you can delete that data in the game or ask us by email as described above; ad data is best handled through the settings above or directly with Google. You can always email us and we'll help.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll also let you know in the game.
